WTB Speed V Comp Bicycle Saddle (Black) Reviews
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful The Right Support in the Right Place, March 20, 2011 By Old Hippie (St. Louis, MO.) - See all my reviews This review is from: WTB Speed V Comp Saddle (Misc.) Although I didn't buy mine from Amazon.com, I still highly recommend this saddle. Wide saddles, especially wide & soft gel saddles do not work. Gel has the same characteristics as water, only thicker. It will flow or take the path of least resistance. As you sit on the saddle, your 'sit bones' immediately apply pressure & force that gel away from where it's needed the most & to the areas that need no support; to be specific the perineum. That's the soft area filled with blood vessels that most people think is their butt hurting.
The only part of your body that really needs support is your 'sit bones'. Anything else is a waste. It has a narrow front section so that as your legs & thighs churn up & down there is no chafing or rubbing. And the rear is just wide enough to support my 'sit bones'. Another thought is the nose slopes down fast, so that getting on & off is easier - especially off when coming to a stop.

This review is from: WTB Speed V Comp Saddle (Sports) I set out to replace my factory Cannondale saddle because of the seam line that runs right down the hip-bone lines, this of course left pain and even numbness up to several days after the actual ride. Why manufactures do that is anyone's guess - the seat top should be all comfort, and perhaps less style. Anyway end of rant. With all the choices out there, I quickly found myself looking at more than 10 seats and after narrowing it down, I chose this because of three things: 1-- I want comfort, 2- I'm not a weight weenie, and 3- I feel you don't need to spend a fortune on a seat. I'm a weekend warrior so I don't live on this. I spend 2-4 hours a weekend on my bike and the last thing I want to deal with anymore is pain from a seat. Well this WTB saddle has cured all in spades. This seat is almost the exact weight of the factory seat it replaces, so its not heavy and is super comfortable, as well as being a quality product. I'm peeved I didn't junk my factory a long time ago! There is... Read more
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful Ahhhhhh!, November 18, 2010 By Jeffy (CA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: WTB Speed V Comp Saddle (Sports) Seeing as my old saddle was a Specialized OE circa 1990, this one is a huge improvement. It's a lot smaller then my old seat and harder where it needs to be but still soft in the back. Not squishy soft mind you. The center channel is nice. I think this seat is a great value. I should mention I don't ride with a chamois, never have even for long ride.
